Check out our live soccer streams of the Icelandic Premier Division here. The Icelandic Premier Division, officially known as the Úrvalsdeild karla is Iceland’s highest football division. Founded in 1912, the division currently host 12 teams who vie for glory each season.

The season runs from May to September, avoiding the harshest conditions of the Icelandic winter. The league includes 12 clubs who play each other two times, once at home and once away. The two teams with the fewest points at the end of the season are relegated to the Icelandic second division, officially know as 1. deild karla.

Internationally, the winner of the Úrvalsdeild enters the UEFA Champions League in the second qualifying round. Second, third and fourth placed teams qualify for the UEFA Europa League in the first qualifying round.

The 2008 season saw 12 teams compete in the premier division as part of KSI's attempt to strengthen Icelandic football.
