Malaysian Purple League currently consists of these teams: Ampang Jaya BC, Bangsar Hawks BC, Cheras BC, Kajang BC, Kepong BC, Klang United BC, Muar City BC, Nusajaya BC, Petaling BC, Petaling Jaya BC, Puchong United BC, Serdang BC and Bandar Utama Dragons BC.

The primary goal of the league is to find young, new players, who can potentially replace Malaysian national team players. Malaysia had numerous Asian and World junior champions, but nobody achieved success as a senior, like Lee Chong Wei.
