When Pedro Caixinha made his way from Ibrox what feels like an eternity ago, few would have expected they would reach a crucial game at Dens Park without a coach – or without a clue.

Under caretaker coach Graeme Murty, the club has continued its infamous trend of failing to win two matches on the spin, having lost 0-2 at Ibrox to a plucky Hamilton side – made worse by two ex-Rangers men scoring the goals.

Now, they need another former Ranger – Dundee manager Neil McCann, under pressure himself, to do them a favor. With his livelihood and reputation on the line, though, McCann knows he can’t let loyalties get in the way here in what promises to be a typically manic Scottish Friday night encounter.

Dundee is a shadow of their early season selves and has been awful for weeks now. Five losses and a draw in their last six is worrying firm, and 25 goals conceded already will be setting off alarm bells in the board room.

McCann was quick to toot his own horn early into the season, praising a raft of summer signings. That is beginning to look questionable, now, though, as the pressure turns up on the Dundee boss. Without too many injury problems to blame, either, he comes into this one with a pretty decent squad in terms of injury – which is probably an issue, taking away any excuses for another below-par performance.

Rangers Team News
Sitting in 4th place, Rangers fans might be wondering where all of that investment in the summer has gone. Marquee signing Bruno Alves – who has pretty much failed to inspire so far – is still out of the side, and we expect Wilson and McCrorie to stay at the back despite a shocker last weekend.

For all Rangers woes, though, their main problem comes at Ibrox. They’ve been decent away from home in 2017 and we expect them to do OK here. Forward Alfredo Morelos has gone right off the boil, but that change in an instant for a Rangers player and, given the chances he missed at Hamilton here, he’ll likely get one.

Declan John is likely to return, too, so Rangers should have bodies if not necessarily quality.

Head-to-head
Over the course of their history, Ranger have always had the upper hand in this battle. Rangers, however, have a less impressive record up at Dens, with Dundee winning 34 of their 114 games up in the City of Discovery. That might not sound impressive, but Rangers have own 54 times, so it’s not a huge gulf.

Match Expectations
Despite being an absolute mess on and off the park, we have nothing but confidence in Rangers getting all three points. Dundee are a decent football team, but look miles off the side that took Celtic so close early on in the season. We’re calling this as a win for Rangers; despite their profligacy in front of goal, Dundee love to give the opposition gifts and we don’t think that’ll change here.

Add in their poor attacking form, and a loss for Dundee sounds just about right – sorry, Dees.
