Chelsea take on Everton tonight at Stamford Bridge the Carabao Cup. Chelsea will look to take advantage of a tumultuous week for the Merseyside Blues, who sacked their manager Ronald Koeman earlier this week.

Chelsea will be hoping to win their sixth Football League Cup, having last won the trophy in the 2014/15 campaign under the management of Jose Mourinho. Everton meanwhile will see this as a realistic opportunity of silverware, having not won any trophy since the 1994/95 FA Cup triumph.Chelsea took on Nottingham Forest in the last round of the EFL Cup, and comfortably beat the former European Cup champions 5-1. Everton meanwhile took on Sunderland at Goodison Park, swatting aside the Northerners in a 3-0 victory.

Chelsea left it late on Saturday to beat Watford, with a couple of late goals of Michy Batshuayi and Cesar Azpilicueta giving the Blues three points in an end-to-end 4-2 victory. Everton meanwhile lost once again, this time a 5-2 loss at home to Arsenal. Their fifth Premier League loss of the season was enough to see Koeman given his P45, ending his lowly stint as Everton manager.

Everton now sit 18th in the Premier League, with a relegation battle a real possibility for the remainder of the season. Comparatively, Chelsea sit 4th, nine points behind league leaders Manchester City. The chances of Antonio Conte retaining the Premier League with his Chelsea outfit is looking increasingly unlikely.

With regards to team news N’Golo Kante, Danny Drinkwater and Victor Moses all remain out injured for Chelsea, while Kenedy and Charly Musonda could receive rare starts. For Everton meanwhile, Morgan Schneiderlin is a doubt with a knock in the only concern for caretaker boss David Unsworth.

Chelsea have beaten Everton in three of their last six meetings, with Everton winning two, and one draw between both sides in that time.The likely outcome for tonight is a comfortable victory for Chelsea; with the home crowd behind them they should have too much for Everton.
