Bayern Munich Preview 2017-2018 (Stream and Highlights)

Bayern Munich started the competitive 2017/18 season with two victories in German Super Cup and German Cup.The match against their traditional rival in the Super Cup, Borussia Dortmund, ended with 5:4 victory in the penalty shootout. After 90 minutes the result was 2:2 and the Bavarian Giants were lucky since Borussia Dortmund led by 1:0 and 2:1 until 88th minute! In the German Cup first round, they didn’t have any problems against Chemnitzer – they celebrated 5:0 victory.

Although they won their first two competitive games in the season, Bayern Munich encountered significant difficulties during the summer. They defeated only Chelsea by 3:2, and they recorded five losses! In fact, they scored only against Arsenal! That match ended in a 1:1 draw, but Arsenal was better after a penalty shootout. Milan hammered them by 4:0, Liverpool beat them by 3:0, while Napoli and Inter celebrated 2:0 victory against them. Bayern Munich played much better in Super Cup and Cup games, but the summer stumbling is a severe warning for them.

Bayern Munich made some surprising moves during the summer transfer window. They bought young German international Serge Gnabry from Werder Bremen for 10 million euro and immediately loaned him out to Hoffenheim. James Rodriguez came on loan from Real Madrid, in a surprisingly cheap deal for them. They will pay 10 million euro for two years loan period, and they will have an option, not an obligation, to buy him for only 35 million euro in 2019. Corentin Tolisso, 23-year-old midfielder from Lyon, was their most expensive reinforcement. They paid him 41.5 million euro. Bayern Munich will try to develop this player into the leader of their midfield in the upcoming years. Bayern Munich also bought Niklas Sule, a robust central defender from Hoffenheim for 20 million euro.

Besides, they paid out Kingsley Coman to Juventus.Juventus paid out Mehdi Benatia to Bayern Munich, but the Bavarian giants surprisingly let a skillful winger Douglas Costa go to Juventus on loan. He wasn’t an indispensable player of the team, but he played a major role in some significant victories since arriving from Shakhtar Donetsk two years ago. It seems that Juventus will pay a small price for such a player, but only time will tell.

Bayern Munich is the absolute favorite to win the title in Bundesliga again. Borussia Dortmund should be their greatest rival, but it is hard to believe they will pose a serious threat to them.
